New update

Work has continued throughout the winter and now that earth moving has commenced I will decrease the frequency between my updates.  As of now, the sub grade is complete on holes seven and eight and topsoil is being spread on hole seven .  There are plenty of activities that will take place over the next few months but the major processes will go as follows:

1: spread topsoil to a depth of 6 inches
2. install 4 & 6" collector drains
3. install lateral irrigation lines and heads
4. install slit drainage system on holes 5,7 and 8
5. install sod

With the 6+ inches of rain upon us now the collector drains will be pushed back at least another week.

The bridge and tee platforms are also complete on hole eight.  Over the next month two more smaller bridges will be constructed to be able to cross the drainage ditch between hole 7/8 as well as 9/10.

Lets all hope that this is the last major rain event this spring-bring on the sun and golf.

Bridge and pipes

It’s been cold and work continues.  Equalization pipes on holes 7 and 9 are being installed to balance the water between compensation areas and the drainage ditch per conservation.  There are two pipes (side by side) on hole 9 and one on hole 7.  There is also going to be a pipe on hole 5 and that will start at a later date.

The bridge is also still being constructed.  Most piling has been installed and decking has started.  This is going to be a very attractive bridge adding style to the 8th hole tee complex.  Once complete this bridge will be 570 feet long and 12 feet wide.  The white tee as well as the yellow tee is being constructed on decking to secure their elevation.

Please post a comment or email me if you have any questions or would like to see the project first hand.

Work is going well but frustrating with all the recent rain. Work continues with the irrigation system being installed, bridge pilings and some earth moving. Pre-load areas almost complete with the exception of the landing area in front of 8th tees.  This final pre-load is a very difficult site to move material to and is time consuming using the smaller tip carts.  The bridge pilings are being installed and should all be installed in the next two weeks.  The decking will immediately follow the pilings.

Screening operation on hole 5

Pre-load area on 8 started.  This is one of three on hole 8 and is located in front of the tees (bailout area).  This is being done with small machines and tip carts because of limited access and depth of peat.

Pre-load area on 8 located about 100 yards from the green complete.  This one is 6 feet high and the 100 day countdown begins.

Pre-load area on hole 7 complete.  7 feet high.  100 day count down begins.

Largest cut area on the right side of 9 fwy.  The final elevation is 30 and should be fairly dry.  The front is set to final grade and where you see water still needs to be raised.

Work is moving along quickly now. Tree removal is almost complete, preload areas on holes 7 and 8 have been started, old irrigation has been removed and new irrigation is being installed (in areas not being disturbed).  Equipment is on its way to start screening the loam on hole 5.  We also anticipate the bridge construction work to begin within the next two weeks.

Work has begun

Now that we were given permission to start earthwork from both Hingham and Cohasset conservation commission's earth is being moved.  The first order on the schedule is to pre-load the designated deep peat areas (4 in total) and leave in place for 100 days.

Looking to the right of 6 green-this will be a compensatory storage area

You will also notice the amount of tree work that is needed in these earthmoving areas.  Irrigation work is also started with the existing irrigation heads being removed and new pipe is being welded together for installation.
